Temple Judea Adult Education “As we live, so we learn.” Yiddish Proverb Education is not just for kids. We are proud to announce our participation, once again, in the Herbert Tarr North Shore Institute for Adult Jewish Education. The Institute is comprised of 18 synagogues and one Jewish community center all abiding by the philosophy of the late Rabbi Herbert Tarr, that all Israel should respect and be responsible for one another – be they Orthodox, Conservative, Reform or Reconstructionist. The program offers a diverse spectrum of courses and lecturers designed to broaden the knowledge and understanding of our rich heritage. ADULT RELIGIOUS SCHOOL RETURNS…
On Sunday, November 22nd, we will resume our once a month adventure in Judaism meant for all adults of Temple Judea.
Join Rabbi Chizner and Cantor Sher as they engage us in an exciting exploration of a variety of Jewish topics. This year, in order to allow for more in-depth study of each topic, Rabbi and Cantor will each teach full sessions.
Adult religious school classes will be held Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 11:15 on the following dates: 11/22, 12/20, 1/31, 2/7, 3/21, 4/11, 5/2.
Cantor Sher will teach "A Taste of Judaism", a variety of Jewish experiences to include Jewish Music and Jewish food .....for all occasions. Cantor’s first session, on November 22nd, will feature the Music of Jewish Broadway Composers such as Berlin, Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein to name a few. Cantor Sher will be joined on that morning by Pianist Peter Sakalow who is a renowned Musical Theatre expert. Come and join us for a journey down 42nd Street!
Rabbi Chizner invites you all to “A Taste of the Text”. In this class we will study passages from Talmud, Mishna, Midrash and more. In the process we will see glints of the brilliance of these master-works of Jewish tradition. Plus, throughout the class we will also have a chance to explore both the historical and religious significance of these texts: some were meant to be instructional, others political, and still others were meant to entertain. Please note that this class is for everyone. You do not need any prior experience with Jewish Texts nor do you need to know Hebrew or Aramaic.

Along with Adult Religious School, we will be offering a Wednesday evening Beginner Hebrew adult education class twice a month from 7:30 to 8:30pm, led by Ellen Gastwirth. Please contact the temple office for more information or additional topic selections. Please RSVP to temple office by November 15th.
