Cantor Melissa L. Adleman
Autobiographical Sketch
Cantor Adleman assumed her duties at Temple Judea on July 1, 2005. She has worked for congregations in Florida, New York, and Pennsylvania. Cantor Adleman is a 1993 cum laude graduate of McGill University, Montreal, Canada and was Invested Cantor by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1997.
Her undergraduate degree is in Jewish studies, and her Master’s thesis focused on the music of the 20th Century North American Jewess. She has taught Jewish music, customs, traditions, and liturgy to adults as well as children, and has trained more than 700 students to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
In addition, Cantor Adleman has conducted adult volunteer, professional, and youth choirs and composed Healing and Confirmation Services. Born and raised in suburban Boston, Cantor Adleman currently resides in Port Washington.
