“A Trifecta of Musical Genres”

A 3-part Adult Education Series

December 2nd, 9th and 16th at 7:00 PM

Wednesday, December 2nd-Cantor Sher will begin the series by performing and discussing songs featuring Jewish composers. Michael Tornick will accompany Cantor Sher. He has a dynamic background performing in a variety of musical styles, from Broadway to Jazz to Classical to Jewish.

Wednesday, December 9th-Sephardic music specialist Gerard Edery will astound us with his mastery of the guitar and speak about Sephardic music. He is recognized as a leading musical folklorist, a master singer and a guitarist with remarkable range of ethnic folk styles and traditions.

Wednesday, December 16th-Clarinetist Ken Maltz will discuss the history of Klezmer music, followed by a performance by Mr. Maltz and Cantor Sher. Mr. Maltz was a founding member of Kapelye, the pioneering Klezmer band, and is known throughout the world as a leading figure in the Klezmer revival.
