PARTICIPATE IN A SOCIAL ACTION WEEKEND AT TEMPLE JUDEA!
IT’S ALL ABOUT VOLUNTEERING!
Friday night Social Action Shabbat, November 15 at 8:00PM
JOIN us at Shabbat services to hear Syd Mandelbaum, creator of ROCK AND WRAP IT UP, talk about how his grass roots programs to alleviate hunger on Long Island grew into one of the country’s most innovative volunteer organizations. Learn how all of us – including children and teenagers – can create projects that make a difference!
BRING to the Shabbat services — juice boxes, raisins, granola bars, small bags of chips and pretzels and apples and oranges to distribute at our winter apparel/coat drive on Sunday, November 17.
REMEMBER…this is the last chance to bring winter apparel for Sunday’s community outreach in Glen Cove! This year we are collecting gently used jeans and new underwear and sox – in addition to coats, scarves, sweaters, sweatshirts, boots, gloves and blankets.
Saturday, November 16 at 12:45PM, Sorting and Family Activities Day!
MEET in the Social Hall… SORT the collected coats and winter apparel. Decorate and fill snack bags. WRITE letters to Temple Judea’s Lone Soldier. WRAP Chanukah gifts.
Sunday, November 17, Community Outreach Distribution Day in Glen Cove!
Our religious school will make sandwiches in the morning.
Congregants MEET at synagogue at 10:15AM to load cars and CARAVAN to Glen Cove. SET-UP begins at 11AM and DISTRIBUTION from 1:30-3:00PM.
Temple Judea will be working with other North Shore synagogues as part of TANS, a collaborative community effort formed by Long Island synagogues and JCC’s to address issues affecting our world today.
For more information and to participate in Sorting and Family Day and/or at Glen Cove please contact Rita Marcus at firstname.lastname@example.org or Alicia Munves at 627-5998.
