TWO GENRES OF JEWISH MUSIC
THE ART OF SEPHARDIC MUSIC AND KLEZMER
(Kley Zemmer – vessel of sound)
With regret, we had to cancel the first part of the music series on Wednesday, December 2. But, as the famous Jewish composer Meatloaf once said, “two out of three ain’t bad!’
Please join us on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 from 7:00-8:00 pm to celebrate Hanukkah with the joy of music and song for a festive musical event featuring the extraordinary talent of guitarist Gerard Edery, Sephardic music specialist. Mr. Edery will astound us with his mastery of the guitar and speak about Sephardic music. He is recognized as a leading musical folklorist, a master singer and a guitarist with remarkable range of ethnic folk styles and traditions.
On Wednesday, December 16th, Clarinetist Ken Maltz will discuss the history of Klezmer music, followed by a performance by Mr. Maltz and Cantor Sher. Mr. Maltz was a founding member of Kapelye, the pioneering Klezmer band, and is known throughout the world as a leading figure in the Klezmer revival.
We are looking forward to seeing you there to enjoy the music and Hanukkah treats!
Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you there.
Admission for the series is $36 for Temple Judea members and $54 for
non-temple members. To RSVP, please call the temple office at 621-8049 or
